Shape the Future - Breastfeed
Breastfeeding is going well for your baby when:
Your baby is nursing 8 to 12 times in a 24 hour period

Swallowing sounds are heard
Your baby appears content after feeding
He/she has 6 or more wet diapers in 24 hours
He/she has 2 or more stools in 24 hours
Stools look seedy and mustard colored
Your baby gains weight (4-7 ounces per week)
WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program
This program is available to participants in the WIC program. Personal in home education and support is provided before and after delivery by a trained WIC breastfeeding peer counselor. call 859-583-1007 to speak with the peer counselor.
Group Breastfeeding classes
Mothers planning to breastfeed are encouraged to attend one of these classes while they are pregnant at the Boyle County Health Department. Classes are FREE and open to spouses, partners and support persons as well. Call to register 859-236-2053 or 859-583-1007.
